Unfiltered Confidence – Day 7: Mind, Body, and Expression

Day 7 of Unfiltered Confidence offered participants another opportunity to reflect on how society shapes self-perception while exploring new ways to express emotions, experiences, and personal stories. Through a combination of reflection, movement, creativity, and intercultural learning, participants continued strengthening their confidence and deepening their understanding of body positivity and self-acceptance.

The day began with a Cultural Breakfast hosted by the Portuguese team. Participants gathered to enjoy traditional flavours from Portugal while learning more about the country's culture and traditions. These shared breakfasts had become an important part of the project, creating space for informal conversations and strengthening the friendships that had developed throughout the week.

The first educational activity of the day, The Evolution of Body Image, encouraged participants to examine how beauty standards have changed across different historical periods and cultures. Through discussions, visual materials, and group work, participants explored how ideas of beauty have never been fixed but have constantly evolved depending on social, cultural, and economic influences.

The activity sparked fascinating conversations about the pressures young people face today and how social media, advertising, and popular culture continue to shape perceptions of attractiveness. Participants reflected on how understanding the changing nature of beauty standards can help people challenge unrealistic expectations and develop a healthier relationship with their bodies. The session reinforced the project's core message that beauty exists in many forms and should never be limited to a single standard.

After a traditional Cypriot lunch, participants enjoyed one of the most relaxing and restorative experiences of the project: a therapeutic Somatic Yoga Session at Not Just Yoga Studio. Guided through gentle movements, breathing exercises, and body-awareness techniques, participants were encouraged to release physical tension and reconnect with themselves in a calm and supportive environment.

For many participants, the yoga session provided a valuable opportunity to slow down, reflect, and focus on their well-being. The experience highlighted the close connection between physical and emotional health while promoting self-care, mindfulness, and appreciation for the body beyond appearance.

The creative exploration continued with From Words to Art, an activity that transformed communication into a collaborative artistic experience. Participants worked together by interpreting words and ideas through drawings, allowing stories and messages to emerge through visual expression rather than verbal explanations. The activity encouraged creativity, active listening, and teamwork while demonstrating that meaningful communication can take many different forms.

Later in the afternoon, participants took part in Emotions in Motions, a dynamic activity that challenged them to express personal experiences and achievements using only body language. Through movement, gestures, and non-verbal communication, participants acted out moments of success, growth, and personal triumph while others attempted to interpret their stories.

The activity generated plenty of laughter and positive energy, but it also revealed the powerful role that body language plays in expressing emotions and experiences. Participants discovered that confidence, resilience, happiness, and determination can often be communicated without words, creating deeper understanding and empathy within the group.

As the evening arrived, the Cypriot team welcomed everyone to the final Cultural Night of the project. Participants were introduced to local traditions, music, games, flavours, and stories that reflected the rich cultural heritage of Cyprus. The evening provided a joyful celebration of diversity and friendship, allowing participants to experience the warmth and hospitality of their host country while reflecting on the intercultural journey they had shared together.

Day 7 beautifully combined reflection, self-care, creativity, and cultural exchange. By exploring the history of body image, connecting with their bodies through yoga, expressing themselves through art and movement, and celebrating culture together, participants continued building the confidence and self-awareness needed to embrace their individuality and appreciate the diversity that makes every person unique.
