Unfiltered Confidence – Day 5: Creative Voices for Body Positivity

Day 5 of our Erasmus+ Youth Exchange project Unfiltered Confidence was dedicated to creativity, emotional expression, and personal reflection. Throughout the day, participants explored different ways of communicating their experiences, feelings, and perspectives on body positivity while continuing to strengthen the supportive community that has been growing since the beginning of the project.

The morning began with a delicious Cultural Breakfast prepared by the Spanish team. Participants enjoyed traditional flavours from Spain while learning more about the country's culture and customs. As conversations flowed around the breakfast tables, the atmosphere remained warm, welcoming, and full of positive energy. A lively energiser followed, helping everyone start the day feeling motivated and ready for new experiences.

The first major activity of the day, My Body as an Art Piece, encouraged participants to express themselves through art. Using paints, colours, and their imagination, participants created visual representations of what body acceptance, confidence, happiness, and self-love meant to them. Each artwork reflected a unique personal journey, demonstrating that there is no single definition of beauty or self-worth. As participants shared their creations, they discovered how art can become a powerful tool for self-expression and healing.

The creative energy continued with Talks and Solutions, an interactive activity that placed participants in different roles, including interviewers, interviewees, body positivity advocates, and videographers. Through open discussions and role-playing exercises, participants explored common struggles related to body image, self-confidence, and social pressures. They also shared practical advice and supportive messages that could help young people facing similar challenges. Recording these conversations allowed participants to preserve valuable insights and reinforced the importance of using their voices to promote positive change.

Later in the day, the group travelled to the beautiful Polis Municipal Beach for a meditation session by the sea. Surrounded by nature and accompanied by the gentle sound of the waves, participants took time to disconnect from everyday stress and reconnect with themselves. The peaceful setting created the perfect environment for mindfulness and reflection. Many participants described the experience as calming, refreshing, and an important reminder of the value of slowing down and appreciating the present moment.

One of the most emotional activities of the day was Blow Your Toxic Thoughts Away. Participants were invited to reflect on negative thoughts, insecurities, self-doubts, and harmful messages they may have internalised over time. After writing these thoughts down, they shared as much as they felt comfortable and then symbolically released them. The activity created a safe space for vulnerability and encouraged participants to let go of negativity while embracing a healthier and more compassionate view of themselves.

The afternoon continued with Map of Emotion, a deeply reflective exercise that encouraged participants to explore the connection between emotions and the body. Using body outlines, they identified where they physically experience feelings such as joy, sadness, fear, confidence, anxiety, and love. Through discussion and reflection, participants gained a better understanding of how emotions influence both mental and physical well-being. The activity highlighted the importance of self-awareness and emotional literacy as essential elements of self-acceptance.

As the sun set, participants gathered for another exciting Cultural Night, this time hosted by the Spanish team. The evening offered a vibrant celebration of Spanish culture through traditional food, music, games, stories, and customs. Participants enthusiastically joined the activities, discovering new traditions while strengthening intercultural bonds and friendships.

Day 5 demonstrated the power of creativity, reflection, and honest dialogue in building confidence and promoting body positivity. Through art, storytelling, mindfulness, and cultural exchange, participants continued developing the self-awareness, empathy, and resilience needed to challenge harmful stereotypes and embrace themselves exactly as they are.
