We Are The World – Final Day: Celebrating Learning, Friendship, and New Beginnings

After an unforgettable week of learning, environmental action, cultural exchange, and personal growth, the final day of the We Are The World Youth Exchange arrived. While participants knew that the project was coming to an end, the atmosphere was filled not only with emotion but also with pride for everything that had been achieved together during the past days in Polis Chrysochous, Cyprus.

The morning began with a special Pakistani breakfast prepared by members of the international group. Participants enjoyed traditional dishes and learned more about Pakistani culture, with one particular specialty quickly becoming a favorite among the group. Sharing food from different cultures throughout the project had become much more than a daily routine, it had become a symbol of friendship, openness, and intercultural understanding.

To start the day with positive energy, participants joined the lively Watermelon Game, an energizer that filled the venue with laughter and smiles. The activity reminded everyone of the strong group spirit that had developed over the course of the exchange and helped create a relaxed atmosphere before the final learning sessions.

One of the key activities of the day focused on Youthpass Competences, encouraging participants to reflect on their personal learning journey throughout the project. Through debates, teamwork, and creative performances, participants explored the various competencies they had developed, including communication skills, teamwork, intercultural awareness, problem-solving, leadership, creativity, and active citizenship.

Rather than simply discussing these learning outcomes, participants transformed them into engaging performances and presentations, making the reflection process interactive and meaningful. The activity helped everyone recognize how much they had grown during the exchange and how these newly developed skills could benefit them in their future educational, professional, and personal lives.

Later in the morning, participants shifted their focus toward the future through a project development session dedicated to Erasmus+ opportunities. Working in groups, they brainstormed new project ideas inspired by the themes explored during the exchange. Participants designed concepts, shared innovative solutions to environmental challenges, and presented their ideas to others, receiving valuable feedback and suggestions. The session demonstrated that the learning process does not end with the project itself but can inspire future initiatives and international cooperation.

Following lunch, participants enjoyed a relaxing visit to the beach. The peaceful atmosphere offered an opportunity to unwind, spend quality time together, and appreciate the natural beauty that had surrounded the project throughout the week. Many participants used this time to reflect on their experiences, strengthen friendships, and enjoy some final moments together before departure.

The afternoon was dedicated to Dissemination and Final Evaluation, where participants reviewed the project's achievements, reflected on the activities, and discussed how they would apply their newly acquired knowledge and skills in their local communities. Participants shared ideas for future environmental initiatives, awareness campaigns, and local actions that could continue the project's impact long after the exchange had ended.

As the day moved toward its conclusion, emotions became increasingly visible. Participants exchanged farewell letters, kind messages, and personal reflections, expressing gratitude for the friendships they had built and the experiences they had shared. Throughout the week, individuals from different countries, backgrounds, and cultures had become much more than project participants—they had become a community.

The final speech provided an opportunity to celebrate the collective achievements of the group and acknowledge the contribution of every participant, team leader, facilitator, and organizer who had made the project possible. It was a moment filled with appreciation, reflection, and optimism for the future.

The project concluded with a memorable Farewell Night, featuring the long-awaited reveal of the Secret Friend activity and a special awards ceremony recognizing the unique contributions, personalities, and achievements of participants throughout the week. Laughter, applause, and emotional moments filled the room as everyone celebrated the journey they had experienced together.

As We Are The World officially came to an end, participants left Cyprus with much more than memories. They returned home with new friendships, greater environmental awareness, stronger intercultural understanding, practical skills, increased confidence, and a renewed motivation to contribute positively to their communities and the world around them.

Although the project has ended, its impact will continue through the actions, ideas, and connections created during this remarkable week.

Thank you to all participants, partners, team leaders, and organizers who made We Are The World a truly unforgettable Erasmus+ experience. Until we meet again!
