One World, Many Voices – Day 2: Building Our Community, One Voice at a Time

The second day of One World, Many Voices marked an important step in transforming a group of individuals from different countries into a united intercultural community. With participants from Cyprus, Greece, Hungary, and Croatia spending more time together, the day focused on building trust, establishing shared values, and exploring the opportunities that Erasmus+ offers to young people across Europe.

The morning began with an energizer that quickly filled the room with movement, laughter, and enthusiasm. Participants started the day on a positive note, reconnecting with one another after the first day and preparing themselves for another exciting learning journey.

One of the first activities of the day created space for participants to express their personal goals and expectations for the project. Through the Expectations Wall, young people reflected on what they hoped to learn during the exchange, the challenges they wanted to overcome, and the contributions they wished to make to the group. The activity highlighted an important aspect of non-formal learning: every participant is both a learner and a contributor. As expectations were shared openly, common interests and motivations began to emerge, creating an even stronger sense of belonging within the group.

A particularly meaningful moment followed with the creation of the project’s Group Contract. Rather than being presented with a list of rules, participants collectively discussed and agreed upon the values that would guide their shared experience throughout the week. Respect, empathy, active listening, inclusion, cooperation, and open communication became the foundation of the group's journey together. The symbolic signing of the contract in creative ways added a fun and memorable dimension to the activity while reinforcing the message that everyone has a role in shaping a positive and supportive environment.

During the afternoon, participants stepped into the exciting world of Erasmus+ through the interactive activity “Erasmus+ World.” Working in international teams, they completed a series of challenges connected to inclusion, diversity, active citizenship, teamwork, belonging, and youth participation. The activity encouraged participants to think critically about social issues while also developing practical skills such as communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.

As teams moved from one challenge to another, they discovered that diversity becomes a strength when people are willing to listen, learn, and work together. The final moment of the activity brought everyone together as the teams combined their puzzle pieces to reveal the project's title: “One World, Many Voices.” The message served as a powerful reminder of the project's purpose and the growing unity among participants.

The learning journey continued with an introduction to Youthpass, the recognition tool used in Erasmus+ projects to help participants reflect on and understand their learning experiences. Through discussions and interactive exchanges, participants explored how non-formal education contributes to personal and professional development. They also learned about the key competences that can be strengthened through international mobility experiences, including communication, cultural awareness, teamwork, and active citizenship.

Later in the day, the group participated in the Shared Values Workshop, an activity that encouraged dialogue, negotiation, and mutual understanding. Participants discussed the values they consider essential for living and working together in multicultural environments. Despite coming from different countries and backgrounds, many discovered that they shared common beliefs about respect, equality, solidarity, and cooperation. These conversations demonstrated how intercultural dialogue can build bridges between people while promoting understanding and social cohesion.

As the day came to a close, participants gathered around the Reflection Tree, which is gradually becoming one of the most meaningful symbols of the project. Through personal reflections, they shared their emotions, favorite moments, new discoveries, and lessons learned throughout the day. The activity encouraged self-awareness while allowing everyone to appreciate the diverse perspectives within the group.

The evening offered another opportunity for connection through informal activities, music, karaoke, and international games. While these moments may seem simple, they often create some of the strongest bonds during youth exchanges. Through shared laughter, spontaneous conversations, and cultural exchange, friendships continued to grow beyond the formal learning sessions.

The main learning outcome of Day 2 was the understanding that building an inclusive community requires active participation from everyone. Participants discovered that respect, empathy, communication, and cooperation are not simply concepts discussed in workshops—they are values that must be practiced every day. By creating common rules, exploring shared values, and learning together, the group took important steps toward creating a space where every voice can truly be heard.

As the Reflection Tree continues to grow and the connections between participants deepen, it is becoming increasingly clear that One World, Many Voices is not only about celebrating diversity, it is about learning how diversity can unite people and create meaningful change.
