All good things must come to an end, but the memories and impact of "Voices of Change" (VOC) are built to last a lifetime. Today marked the seventh and final official day of our Erasmus+ Youth Exchange in Polis Chrysochous, Cyprus. It was a deeply memorable, emotional, and heartfelt conclusion to an unforgettable week of growth, digital activism, and cross-cultural friendship.
The VOC Film Festival
Our final morning kicked off with a delightful cultural breakfast organized by our Hungarian team, who treated all participants to an array of delicious traditional foods.
With everyone fueled and eager, we rolled out the metaphorical red carpet for the most anticipated session of the project: the grand screening of our Self-made Documentary projects. For the past week, participants have been applying intensive non-formal learning methods to script, film, and edit short documentary-style films. Watching our hard work flash across the big screen was incredibly moving. The films tackled vital, heavy societal topics with immense maturity, specifically highlighting raw stories surrounding Discrimination (racial, disability rights, and LGBTQ+ rights) and Mental Health barriers.
Following the screenings, we transitioned into an administrative and forward-looking block. Group leaders coordinated departure logistics for the traveling teams. More importantly, we held a dedicated workshop providing valuable tips on how participants can reflect their newly acquired digital and storytelling competencies into their official Youthpass certificates. We also mapped out future dissemination activities, ensuring everyone is equipped to hold local workshops, launch student clubs, or share their media content back in their home communities.
Secret Friends, Appraisals, and Sunset Waves
After lunch, the afternoon was spent conducting a 360-degree review of the entire project lifecycle. In alignment with Erasmus+ youth quality standards, we held an open forum where participants shared their honest praises and constructive criticisms regarding project logistics, workshops, and activities. This feedback loop is essential for our growth as a youth group.
To lighten the mood, we broke out one final, high-energy energizer activity that everyone had been waiting for: the grand reveal of our "Secret Friends"! For the entire week, participants had been anonymously leaving kind notes, treats, and secret acts of kindness for their assigned peers. Revealing who was behind each gesture sparked waves of laughter, massive hugs, and beautiful moments of appreciation across the country teams.
As night fell over Polis Chrysochous, we gathered for our final farewell circle on the soft sands of the municipal beach. With the soothing sound of the Mediterranean waves as our backdrop, we spent our final hours together celebrating with music, group singing, and shared laughter. Saying goodbye to the project and our new lifelong friends wasn't easy, but we walked away knowing we are leaving Cyprus as more empathetic, digitally literate, and empowered agents of change.
Major Learning Outcomes of the VOC Project:
Comprehensive Digital Literacy: Over the course of the week, participants transitioned from passive media consumers to technical creators, mastering video editing, podcast workflows, and graphic design.
Amplified Social Advocacy: Youth developed the critical analysis and public speaking skills necessary to confidently voice perspectives on systemic inequalities and human rights.
Lasting Cross-Border Solidarity: By breaking down societal stereotypes through daily collaboration and cultural nights, the cohort established a deeply unified European youth network committed to active citizenship.
A massive, heartfelt THANK YOU to the European Union for co-funding this initiative, to our wonderful partner organizations, and to every single participant, group leader, and volunteer who made this experience unforgettable. This isn't a goodbye, it's just the beginning of our stories.
