Welcome to Day 5 of our Erasmus+ Youth Exchange, "Voices of Change" (VOC)! After several days of intense brainstorming, deep emotional writing, and media production , today was all about taking a breath, diving into the local culture, and exploring the stunning natural landscapes of our host country, Cyprus.
Building global networks and fostering solidarity isn't just done in the workshop room, sometimes, the best cross-cultural bonds are formed while exploring the world together.
A Cypriot Sunrise and Sailing the Blue Lagoon
Our morning in beautiful Polis Chrysochous started on a delicious note with a traditional breakfast lovingly prepared by our local Cypriot team. It was the perfect fuel for the big adventure ahead!
By mid-morning, we packed our bags, put on our sun cream , and headed over to nearby Latchi Harbor. We boarded the Blue Lagoon II cruise boat and set sail across the Mediterranean. Swimming, laughing, and splashing around in the world-famous, crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Blue Lagoon was truly a magical, bucket-list experience that many of our participants described as one of the most amazing moments of their lives!
Choose Your Own Adventure: Exploring the Region
To keep things relaxing and flexible, our group of 36 change-makers split up after the boat cruise to explore different local attractions based on their personal interests:
The Adventurers: Some ventured out to witness the dramatic, stunning sea caves located in Peyia village.
The Beach Lovers: Others headed straight down to Latchi Beach, soaking up the warm Cypriot sun and swimming in the calm sea.
The Myth-Seekers: A few walked over to the serene, legendary Baths of Aphrodite to chill out, unwind, and take in the beautiful scenery.
The Culture Explorers: Several participants spent their afternoon exploring the local city center, wandering through the streets and shopping for unique souvenirs to take back home.
The Rest & Recharge Crew: And for those who were feeling a bit worn out from our heavy filming schedules, staying back at the maisonettes to sleep and recharge was the perfect option.
Unwinding and Long Conversations
After meeting back up at the accommodation for a hearty dinner, we took different paths once again to wrap up our evening. Some of the group went for a beautiful, breezy night-time walk around the town, while others gathered out in the well-tended gardens of the hotel for long, deep chats.
Without the structure of a formal session, our participants spent hours talking about their lives back home, sharing laughs, and naturally breaking down cultural stereotypes. Today was the ultimate blend of relaxation and exploratio, a beautiful reminder of the power of youth mobility and a day of memories we will all cherish forever.
Major Outcomes of Day 5:
Organic Intercultural Bonding: Stepping outside the classroom allowed participants from all six countries to build genuine friendships and practice communication skills naturally.
Mental Well-Being & Recharge: A dedicated day of nature and relaxation prevented burnout, ensuring everyone's emotional and mental state is highly motivated for our final project push.
Connection to Host Community: By exploring local landmarks, from Latchi to the Baths of Aphrodite, participants gained a rich, real-world appreciation for the geography and heritage of Cyprus.
Tomorrow, we are back at it and hitting the editing rooms to stitch together our final video-documentaries! Rested, tanned, and ready!
